An annual cleaning by your veterinarian may be necessary if your pet is uncooperative with tooth and gum brushing. Keeping an accurate medical diary of your pet’s procedures, vaccinations, elimination habits, physical changes, and unusual occurrences is recommended. Small shifts in behavior, such as urinary marking habits, mood swings, diet modifications, and routine changes, should be noted. This journal will provide a complete medical history if you ever need to change vets.

When selecting a veterinarian, look for someone who is calm, compassionate, and willing to explain all procedures to you. Choose a clinic with qualified staff and facilities for surgery and procedures requiring anesthesia, such as teeth cleaning.
